Of course no Chinese meal is complete without a few gyoza! Yummo!!
On Monday we had Shota's Aunty and Uncle pop in to see us and also wish us a Happy New Year! I was most excited when I saw Shota's Aunty, Nobutaka's Sister, in a Kimono!!
Monday was "Becoming an Adult Day", so another Public Holiday for Japan. Becoming an adult means that anyone that turned 20 the previous year, goes to a ceremony at their local City Council, then spend the afternoon celebrating! Twenty is the age that Japanese can legally drink... Anyway all the girls dress in Kimono and boys in suits. It was wonderful to see so many beautiful Japanese girls in Tokyo in their stunning Kimono!! So because it was a special day for Japan, a lot of elderly Japanese also dress in traditional and formal wear... hence Shota's Aunty in her Kimono.
I thought she looked wonderful and opted to stand next to her for the family photo :)
They also brought us gifts, as a New Year present. Shota was given a scarf and I received a really cool poncho... that I have been wearing ever since!
