Machida is the name of the suburb Shota's family lives in, we took this photo the other day, as I think it’s nice that the town is acknowledging its love for its people…and in English, so us Foreigners can appreciate it too. I also think that around Christmas time its all going to be lit up with pretty fairy lights! Can’t wait!
Also the other day Shota and I discovered the best “ready to drink” iced coffee, at 7-11. Its not too big, so not as much milk as some and it’s the “light” option, there are several to choose from. It roughly costs $1.50, so it is also affordable… so many pluses!
On Tuesday Shota’s Mother took us out for Ramen Noodles… the restaurant is ranked 15th in the whole of JAPAN… we were expecting great things! And it did not disappoint.
The above little sign was found at the counter we were seated at. I have forgotten to mention that in trains there are signs everywhere telling people not to use their mobiles. I like it, really think Melbourne could benifit from this idea....
This was Shota's Mums meal, hers was a "dipping" option. You dip the noodles into the soup... still tasted good!
The shop was very dark, the walls painted black and covered in “The Offspring” and “My Chemical Romance” posters… the music that was playing was also different to a normal “ramen noodle” shop, it was almost heavy metal. Then standing behind the counter in the kitchen was a sturdy Japanese man, dressed in a black tee-shirt and a black bandana, he was hard-core. Standing next to him, wearing a floral dress and nearly half his size, was his grandma… The pair were an unlikely match, but the food… sensational.
After we had finished the 15th best Ramen Noodles in JAPAN we popped into the Supermarket to buy ingredients for Dinner... I found Spam! Sushi Spam to be exact! (we didn't buy any)
Later after Shopping and the Ramen Noodle experience, we headed off to pick up Dessert. That is Shota’s Mothers car out the front of the tiny Dessert shop.
We chose our treats and headed home. I choose a cupcake with lots of pink cream on top… yummy!
Later that day for dinner Chisa surprised us all again with an amazing meal! It looks like sushi but with thin ham… so tasty. And she made pizza flavoured pastry rolls! There was also Miso soup, tofu and a fish dish wrapped in fried tofu...Also delicious….
Full from a day of wonderful food, I had to retire early for bed.
