Today was a wonderful day… Shota and I finally submitted his VISA application for Australia. We only had to wait in line for 45 minutes at the Australian Embassy. Which can I add is HUGE!! We even had to go through security and have our bags searched first… full on. Bit different to the Japanese Embassy in Cairns, it was a tiny office (more like a room).
Please note the Advent Calender behind me and the Beautiful Book on the “Mornington Peninsula” given to Shota’s parents by my Mumma… oh and the Kookaburra Card (also from Mum).
Shota and I have applied for a Defacto Visa - Temporary Resident, which, when granted, he will remain on for two years. We will then apply for the “Permanent Defacto” visa, which means Shota will become a Permanent Australian resident. He will then be able to join Medicare, vote, go to Uni and accumulate a HECS debt and not be an “International Student” and of course get the dole :p lol Not saying he will (get the dole) just saying he can J
He also just informed me that he will still barrack for New Zealand whenever they play, especially when they play Australia… nice words Shota, might have to rethink this VISA .
As you can see we had alot to documents in there... 2kg's worth!
Although during the month before we left Australia, we called the Immigration Office nearly every day, we still weren’t fully informed about the VISA Process. So today we were informed that Shota didn’t need to leave his Passport with them (Yay), It will take six months to be processed (of all the documents are correct, they will email him the VISA and (The best news) that he is allowed back in Australia… on three month Tourist Visa’s. As Shota will have applied to “migrate” to Australia, this means the Government will let him back in before the Defacto Visa has come through, but only on the Tourist Visa. This is still good news, as it gives us more options. We were worried we would have to stay in Japan until the Visa was granted and worried because my Visa expires in April. Now we don’t have to worry and are free to continue wondering around the World… travelling and seeing the sights. Next step to plan all this travelling!
Today we also treated us to a Sushi Lunch! Yummo!!! We ended up eating quite a bit.. 13 plates, each plate comes with two pieces of Sushi, so we had 13 pieces of Sushi each!! Wasn't that expensive either.
They even had seagrape Sushi, that I was told was only found in Okinawa!! I was super excited!!
