Christmas Eve in Yokohama

Christmas Eve this year was spent at one of Shota's Aunty's House. They live in a very large and modern Japanese House in Yokohama. The reason for the get together was in memory  of Shota's Aunty, Kazumi, who passed away from cancer seven years ago. Chisa (Shota's Mother) has six Sisters and one Brother, so the even was a rather large one, with lots of new family members for me to meet.

We arrived at 12pm, started eating at 2pm and left around 9pm... it was a big day for me, but also quite fun. Plus there are a lot of family members that speak English.

This is Shota helping his Aunty's out preparing the food in the Kitchen.

Some of the family Members...

To my left I have Chisa, Shota's Mother and to my right I have Mei, Shota's sister.

Shota's Aunty Yoshimi and cousin Jyun, with the Turkey Yoshimi cooked. Her husband, Michael, is from England and likes to have a traditional Christmas Lunch every year...

The Food Table...

Mince Pies hand made by Yoshimi, and custard (packet custard, from the UK) as Michael also enjoys a traditional Dessert...

By the end of the evening there were a few Uncles on the floor... Lucky for Shota's Father, he was on a couch when he passed out. However the party will still continue, children running aorund their Fathers that are "asleep" on the lounge room floor. Whilst the wives, whose sister it is that has passed, were busy cleaning up the mess from the day long feast. Also in Japan you cannot have any alcohol in your system before driving. So none of the wives were drinking, as they all had to drive their families home...

I was mixed in with the family shot, this is all of Shota's cousins.

Shota's cousins Kevin and Sean are half British, they are also much taller than the rest of the family!

It really was a wonderful day and we get to do it all over again in the New Year!! Can't wait :)
