Shabu Shabu is definitely up there with my favourite foods in Japan. The other night Shota and I were lucky enough to be taken out, by Shota's parents to a Shabu Shabu restaurant in Machida.

Shabu Shabu is the name of a Japanese style of cooking, involving a pot of boiling water. It is similar to Nabe, which I wrote a post about earlier.... but a little different. With Shabu Shabu you add thinly sliced pieces of meat into the pot of boiling water, using your chopsticks, then you quicky "swish" the meat around in the water, cooking it. You then drop the meat into a sauce infront of you then eat it! Yummo!! The the method is repeated with vegetables... we had two sauces infront of us, a creamy one made from sesame seeds and one more like a soy sauce/ vinegar, both beautiful!

We also ended up going with the "all you can eat" option... which just meant the waitress had to keeping bringing out more and more plates of meat for to eat! And even though Shota had, had a wisdom tooth removed that day, he and his Father were able to consume loads of food. So don't worry we got our money's worth! Actually ended up being about $200.00 and that we didn't even have Alcohol! So a little more expenisve than my favourite "The Sushi Train"...
That looks so tasty! What is it with these Japanese folk and their food - havnt seen anything yet that I wouldnt eat!!! Nobutaka is a handsome man in his suit, Chisa is lovely. But I wish Shota wouldnt wear that cap all the time!!!!!
